Artist of the month – Vicky Gómez

Vicky Gómez, artist of the month for July, awaits you at our next opening!

Multidisciplinary artist, with studies in various artistic modalities, from fashion design to ceramics, narrative, or illustration. From the year 2000, when she began her training in the field of ceramics, she also started her professional path in the artistic field. She has always been committed to solidarity and environmental initiatives. In 2014, she began incorporating this concern into her ceramic work with themes related to nature, but it was not until 2017 that she found an artistic line with which she identified to fully dedicate herself to themes of social denunciation: immigration, segregation, evictions, abuse… and a whole list of human injustices that outrage her.

In the field of craftsmanship, to which she is professionally dedicated, this concern is also reflected, and from 2018 she created a new brand and line of work, “TRANSFORM-ART,” based on waste recovery, creating small unique and functional works of art from the recycling of old recovered furniture and objects, as well as clothing. Giving a new life and functionality to obsolete or discarded objects. She has participated in various collective exhibitions and art festivals. Finalist for the Agbar Award 2021.

SNAPSHOTS

Snapshots is a collection of images, of brief moments, captured amidst the fleeting frames that pass before our eyes every day. Windows to the world that, if we delve into them, make us aware of the magnitude and depth of a drama of infinite dimensions. Things that never change, people who always suffer but fight with the only weapon they have left: dignity and perhaps hope.

Sculptures that combine poetry, ceramics, iron, recycled objects, or waste material, which we can look at through a frame and see them pass like photographs that we will not see again, or look beyond and reflect.

If by looking at these “snapshots,” or by listening to my poems, you feel anguish, unease, worry, or indignation, or even hope, perhaps the world is not in danger of extinction.
