Sitges ReciclArt

Next edition: from August 2 to September 21, 2025

Art and sustainability in Sitges

Sitges ReciclArt is a benchmark event in the field of sustainable art, organized by Drap-Art and the Sitges City Council, with the support of the Barcelona Provincial Council. The festival promotes environmental awareness through an artistic lens, highlighting the work of artists who explore themes such as climate change, ecology, and responsible consumption.

Through exhibitions, workshops, talks, and other activities, Sitges ReciclArt invites us to rethink the role of art as a tool for social transformation toward a more sustainable model — environmentally, socially, and economically. The festival supports creative recycling by giving new life to discarded materials, fostering creativity, reuse, and critical thinking.

A platform for environmental art

One of the key pillars of the project is the support and visibility of an emerging sector of environmental artists. Sitges ReciclArt fosters exchange between established and emerging artists, promoting their professional growth and contributing to the development of a green and cultural economy.

The festival’s activities promote environmental education through artistic expression and community participation.

History and evolution

A journey towards a consolidated biennial

  • 2016 – Sitges ReciclArt is born, driven by the SAGA art galleries association, with the collaboration of Drap-Art, the Posidonia Green Festival, the Centre for Marine Studies, and the Sitges City Council. The first edition is held at the Miramar Cultural Centre, with exhibitions, workshops, talks, and a recycled art fair.

  • 2017 – SAGA leaves the project and artAmore Sitges joins. The festival continues with the same format and growing success.

  • 2018 and 2019 – The festival consolidates at the Miramar Cultural Centre with participatory activities and greater public involvement.

  • 2020 and 2021 – Due to the pandemic, the festival changes format: it is held at Can Falç de Mar in a reduced version focused exclusively on the exhibition.

  • 2022 – The festival is redefined as a biennial, with a plan to return to full format in 2023.

  • 2023 – The seventh edition marks the beginning of the new biennial phase with a renewed program.

  • 2025 – The next edition will take place from August 2 to September 21.
