Artist of the Month – Vicky Gómez

Vicky Gómez, artist of the month of July, awaits you at our next inauguration!

Multidisciplinary artist, with studies in various artistic modalities, from fashion design to ceramics, narrative or illustration. From 2000, when he began his training in the ceramic field, he also began his professional career in the artistic field. He has always been committed to solidarity and environmental initiatives, in 2014 he began to incorporate this concern into his ceramic work with issues related to nature, but it was not until 2017 that he found an artistic line with which he identified to devote himself entirely, the issues of social denunciation, immigration, segregation, evictions, mistreatment. and a whole list of human injustices that anger him.

In the field of craftsmanship, to which it is dedicated professionally, this concern is also reflected and since 2018 it creates a new brand and line of work, “TRANSFORM-ART” based on the recovery of waste, creating small unique and functional works of art from the recycling of antique furniture and objects recovered as well as clothes. Making obsolete or rejection objects have a new life and new functionality. He has participated in several collective exhibitions and art festivals. Finalist of the Agbar Award 2021

SNAPSHOT

Instantànies is a collection of images, instants, briefs, captured between the fleeting frames that pass every day in front of our eyes. Windows in the world that if we enter it makes us aware of the magnitude and depth of a drama of infinite dimensions. Things that never change, people who always suffer but who fight with the only weapon they have left: dignity and perhaps hope.

Sculptures that combine poetry, ceramics, iron, recycled objects or waste material, which we can look through a frame and see them pass as photographs that we will not see again, or look further and reflect.

If looking at these “snapshots”, or listening to my poems, you feel anguish, anxiety, anxiety or indignation, or, even hope, the world may or “Tal vez” is not in danger of extinction

Drap-Art is Pleased to Unveil the Exhibition RE-ART Commissioned by Casa SEAT

In a world increasingly aware of the need for environmental sustainability, a new artistic movement has emerged that takes advantage of the power of recycled and reused materials. This summer, Barcelona’s art enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience this innovative approach to art at RE-ART: Sustainable Art Exhibition (RE-ART: Exhibition of Sustainable Art) by CASA SEAT.

Opened on 10 July and until 7 September, the RE-ART exhibition will show the work of 15 pioneering sustainable artists who have made the recovery, reuse and recycling of materials the ethical and aesthetic basis of their practice. From renowned figures such as HA Schult and Modest Cuixart to emerging talents such as 3-DKE, Àlex Cardona and Nourathar Studio, the exhibition presents a variety of artistic perspectives united by a shared commitment to raise awareness of environmental and social issues.

“RE-ART is not just an exhibition, but an experience that invites visitors to reconsider the value of rejected materials and the impact of our daily actions,” the organizers explain. By transforming everyday waste into works of art that provoke reflection, these sustainable artists challenge us to rethink our relationship with the objects that surround us and the consequences of our consumption patterns.

Visitors to the CASA SEAT space will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the creative process, discovering how these artists have taken advantage of techniques such as recovery, reuse and recycling to elaborate their unique visions. From large-scale installations to complicated sculptures, the exhibition promises to inspire and compromise, offering a vision of a future where art and sustainability go hand in hand.

Do not miss the opportunity to be part of this transformative journey. Admission to the RE-ART exhibition is free during CASA SEAT’s usual opening hours. Discover how the power of art can help to remodel our collective consciousness and build a more sustainable world.

Artist of the Month– Valentina Brostean

Come to our next inauguration and take the opportunity to meet Valentina Brostean, Artist of the Month of June, in our gallery and enjoy its very special artistic vibrations.

After spending more than a decade in Turin (Italy), he now resides in Barcelona (Spain). Brostean holds a degree in Graphic Design and a master’s degree in Illustration from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Novi Sad University. Brostean is a multidisciplinary visual artist with more than 15 years of experience in the creative world, working with both traditional and digital media.

His daring and colorful style, often described as “new contemporary figuration”, is specific to his use of brave and unexpected compositions, a daring color palette and a unique and striking imagery. In his personal work, he has been strongly inspired by all aspects of human nature, exploring subconscious emotional states, dreams, reality and surrealism. He has developed his own very personal technique and style, the result of a perpetual journey, a constant search for identity and complexity of meanings.

Recognized as one of the emerging contemporary artists appreciated by international clients, her work has been selected by Armani Exchange, The Washington Post, Il Corriere Della Sera, Bicycle USA and Kabinet Brewery, among many others.

NOMADS – Mask sculptures and ready-mades

“Since I arrived in Barcelona, I have become obsessed with objects of all kinds that people throw into the garbage daily, as well as the human relationship with these abandoned objects. “The trash of some are the treasures of others.”.

I collected and reused discarded objects as basic building material to create ready-made artwork. The alchemistic process was launched, when these objects began to have their faces and tell their story, revealing my internal transition and my metamorphosis!

I was looking for old suitcases, clothes, boxes, wooden panels, photos or letters that “rerenased” under my hands, also using glue, varnish, acrylic and watercolours. I called these objects and paintings “Nòmades”. Do they look at us on these faces? nomads – humans in transformation.

The Gothic is celebrating: Enjoy the Fiesta Mayor and our Artist of the Month!

The Gothic is on Festival!

The month of May begins with the Gothic Festival, from day 3 to day 12, in which Drap-Art participates with a creative recycling workshop, on day 4 and a fashion show on the 11th, from 12 to 14h in the Plaza Real and a new creation of artists, designers and artisans of the Upcycling of Ciutat Vella, in the Plaza de la Merced, who will work live, in front of the public accompanied by DJs, on Sundays, day 5 and 12, from 11 to 20h. See full program here.

Complexity or the Search for Being

On May 8, we also present the Artist of the Month: Norberto Fuentes (Casp, 1958). An extraordinary self-taught painter and sculptor, with a long history of national and international exhibitions, arrives from Zaragoza to make us enjoy with his sculptural interpretation of the prime numbers.

“Maons of arithmetic, the guiding thread of number theory, atoms of mathematics…. I looked at 5, 7, 97, and I didn’t see that.
I thought about representation. Yes, the problem I had is that the way we represent them, that we use, closed my way.
The Ishango bone, the Sumerian cones and a number of precious ways to represent numbers.
There are other ways to show the number, I discovered the Mediterranean! Go back to the beginning.
They all have a common place, unity. A being, a one and here is the code of interpretation of my way of representing.
Being and number. Their relationships and complexity.
For me it is clear that prime numbers are impeccable models to establish the basis of the complex reality that surrounds us.
They are colossal, exciting and very, very artistic.
I would love to have these works enjoy them like me doing them, even if only a little.”
